The quarter-size Pheasant pair is cast in five separate parts of solid silver, using moulds made from the lost wax process. To reemphasise the details of the feathers and give the pair a more life-like appearance, the Pheasants are hand chased from beak to tail tip. Chasing, one of the oldest surviving silversmithing skills still practised today, is when the silversmith moves the silver to create a 3-dimensional design using special tools.
The half-size cock Pheasant stands at 16cm tall, while the hen stands at 14.5cm tall. Together, they weigh 1,380g of hallmarked Sterling Silver.
